Polygons began as an act of defiance. In 2012, design student Rahul Agarwal was told by a senior at his design school: "You should never try to redesign something already perfected – like a spoon."

Rahul took it as a challenge. Within days, he had the concept – inspired by the human hand, which lies flat at rest and cups when you need to scoop. It's exactly how people measured for 3,000 years before tools existed.
